Sydney Fly Fishing Tours

Sydney is a city that needs no introduction, but hidden within its vast richness of waterways is a very well kept secret,  the fishing. Sydney is arguably the greatest urban saltwater fishing destination in the world.  Huge schools of pelagic fish inhabit these waters, for some or all of the year.  The amazingly hard fighting, brawling Kingfish with its never give up attitude and dirty, line breaking tactics is a favoured species that frequents structure or smashes the surface as they terrorise baitfish.  Add to the mix the amazing leaps and fight of Australian Salmon, Bonito, Mac Tuna, Striped Tuna, Tailor (bluefish), Amberjack, Sampsonfish, Cobia and a host of other tropical and temperate species and Sydney has a 12 month fishery. Estuary Perch, Luderick and even the humble Mullet can add some extra spice to an already diverse fishery. Sydney Harbour alone has over 50 species of fish that can be caught.

Justin Duggan is one of Australia's leading anglers, having honed his skills on a myriad of fish species in locations across the world and within Australia.

Justin has brought Flyfishing to thousands of anglers across the world through regular radio, TV and magazine appearances as well as flycasting schools and one-on-one tuition.

As a former zookeeper and wildlife photographer he found his passion for fishing and wildlife blended perfectly into the vast waterways and national parks that wind through Sydney.

An excellent communicator, Justin prides himself in not only putting customers onto the great fish found throughout Sydney but honing their own skills, whether it be casting, hunting fish or the other skills required for fly and lure fishing.

As well as guiding the wonderful waters of Sydney Justin spends regular stints guiding the incredible  waters of Australia's Cape York Peninsula with Fish's Fly and Sportfishing owned by the legendary Alan "Fish" Philliskirk.

When Justin isn't guiding he's usually fishing or indulging his other passion of music, working as a freelance drummer. Justin is married and lives on Sydney's northern beaches.

The Raised Hackle Fly Fishing Adventures

Welcome to
The Raised Hackle Fly Fishing Adventures

My name is John Baker and I have the privilege of being a professional
fly fishing guide in one of the most beautiful and highly regarded trout
fishing regions in the world, Turangi ( New Zealand) .The trout capital of
the world, situated at the southern end of lake Taupo,

I grew up in Victoria Australia, and started fly fishing at a young age of
nine years. In the following years, after reading books on fly fishing New
Zealand waters, it was time to see it for myself. So here I am in a country
I will never leave. I started working in my trade as a mechanical fitter but
on my days off, I was out on all rivers you can imagine. Landing trout of
all sizes (largest being a 13lb brown out of the Hydro Pool on the Tongariro River) I
also worked in the South Island, again exploring rivers. What a place to be,
another part of New Zealand, also another world.

Deciding to leave my trade I worked in a sports shop for a number of years.
During such time an opportunity arose to purchase a fly fishing shop on the banks of the
famous Tongariro River and so a dream to work at what I love came true. So
here I am now, a professional Trout Fishing Guide. Doing what I love most.
